Ato Damenu Bekele is currently working as a coordinator and advisor for a project that supports agricultural activities in the Southern Nations Nationalities Region financed by African Development Bank. Formerly he has worked as coordinator and advisor to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) supported projects in the same region with good reputation.
He holds a BSc degree in Agri economics from Alemaya University and has served at different levels of responsibilities in government offices and as senior economist. He also served for many years in the Regional Plan and Program Bureau as head of Monitoring and Evaluation.
He has made extensive travel to India, Tanzania, Kenya and Zimbabwe which helped him to benefit from short trainings and visits. In his 25 years experience he has performed several activities among which he has prepared several irrigation projects and conducted trainings for several organizations and people who benefited from the training.
He is a renown person among colleagues and others that helped him to initiate the formation of Hiber Agro Industry; prepared the different project documents for Hiber and currently is senior board member in Hiber.
Dr Kasaye Hadgu holds a DVM in veterinary science from Debre Zeit, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Addis Ababa University. He did his post graduate studies in Edinburgh, Uk. He has worked as a FARM-Africa pastoral project coordinator in Afar, and other FARM- Africa projects in Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region. He also worked in several international organizations, FAO, UN-OCHA; and as a consultant in several NGOs to mention a few Pact Ethiopia, Care Ethiopia, Save the Children US etc. He has benefited from several short trainings. He with other colleagues has initiated Hiber Agro Industry Share Company. Currently Dr Kasaye is working as an officer in UN-Ocha. He is a board chairman of the organization.
Ato Dubale Admasu is one of the organizers of Hiber Agro Industry and is a board member. Currently he works for USAID Ethiopia as a Livestock and Pastoral Development program coordinator. Prior to his current post he has been working in NGO and government sector. During his many years of stay with FARM- Africa he served the organization as pastoral project coordinator in Afar region and as a natural resource conservation and development advisor, as community extension and training officer. He also worked in North Omo Zone, SNNP region as a livestock development expert within the government agriculture office. During the course of his service he has contributed several publications.
Ato Dubale holds a BSc in Animal Science from Alemaya University and post graduate training from Wales University in natural resource development. He has received several short term trainings and has participated in national and international workshops.
Dr Taffese Mesfin currently is a freelance consultant in pastoral and livestock development and a researcher in traditional veterinary medicine. Earlier he worked as a pastoral program advisor for FARM-Africa and as a consultant for several international and national organizations to mention a few IFAD, UNDP, Pact Ethiopia, Oxfam GB and Save the Children US.
He has worked in government services at different level ranging from technician to General Manager in the former government projects such as WADU, ARDU, TLDP and pastoral extension team of the Ministry of Agriculture.
He holds a DVM in veterinary science from India and a post graduate training from Sweden. In addition he has participated in several short trainings and national and international workshops. He has produced several research papers and more recently has published a book on traditional veterinary practices. He has played a key role in the realization of the share company.
Dr Yoseph Tekle giorgis is an advisor for the company. Currently he is senior researcher; advisor to post graduate students and lecturer at the Debub University. Formerly he has served as a lecturer in various universities for 24 years. Dr Yoseph has published several research findings and text books.
He holds a BSc in animal science from Alemaya University; MSc from Uk and PhD from the Addis Ababa University.
Dr Wendwesen Bekele is one of the initiators of Hiber Agro Industry Share Company. Currently he is a senior lecturer at Dila Agricultural College. He also is running a private veterinary clinic at Dila town.
Formerly he has been working in government veterinary service as veterinary practitioner, as veterinary team leader and livestock production and fisheries desk leader.
He holds a DVM in veterinary science from the former Soviet Union and his post graduate in animal production and freed development from Alemaya University.
Dr Ayalew Gebre is the initiator and advisor of Hiber Agro Industry Share Company Currently he is an assistant professor in social anthropology at Addis Ababa University. While lecturing at the university he has also conducted extensive research on pastoral and agro pastoral socio economic developments. He is also a member of national and international civil and studies association.
Dr Ayalew obtained his first and second degree in practical sociology and social anthropology from Addis Ababa University. He also obtained his PhD from International Social Studies, Holland.
Ato Jemal is the current coordinator and advisor of Oromiya Agricultural Support Project financed by African Development Bank. Formerly he worked at different level of responsibilities in Oromiya as Oromiya agriculture bureau plan and program monitoring and evaluation head, project plan senior expert, monitoring and evaluation team leader, West Hararge agriculture development and coffee and tea representative; and as assistant technician of Debre zeit agricultural research center, Addis Ababa University. He has also served as a consultant for national and international organizations.
Ato Jemal holds a BSc degree in plant science from Alemaya University and MSc in in agro economics. He has also participated in several short training and workshops in several countries. He is one of the organizers/initiators of Hiber Agro Industry Share Company.
Objectives of Hiber
The overall objective of Hiber Agro Industry is to increase food production and derive benefits for its share holders.
The specific objectives include:
- Fattening (cattle, sheep and goats), dairy development, forage production, poultry production, apiary development and large scale irrigated agriculture.
- Achieving any other activities that are related to Hiber Agro Industry Share Company.
